Why: For a startup, an SME and sometimes a large company, the transition from a functional prototype to a first series (pre-series) is a crucial step, which must be as short and simple as possible. Today this is not the case, this stage is long because complex. We want to provide a simple and integrated solution to address this problem. Taking up the words of the Minister for Ecological and Sustainable Transition * « We must give the desire (and also the means) to the technologies that are growing in our territory to flourish there and thus remain there »
Our vision: Create a new type of accelerator with in its heart a « factory of the future » as engine of acceleration and as engine of profitability. We are going to build what no one has never built and as a tool to anchor the startups in the Paris-Saclay territory and to ignite re-industrialization. We are totally in the #FrenchFab dynamic.
Our mission: Provide world-class hardware acceleration immersive programs for start-up, SMEs/SMIs and large companies.
Those acceleration services will be based on a direct accessible combination of various platforms (additive manufacturing, electronic, mecanic, CAD, etc) based on high-end equipment and facilities to design, prototype and deliver small series of hardware innovative products, all under the same roof, including accommodation, exhibition hall and a « pitch theater’ for the quickest turnaround possible.
Typical duration of acceleration program will be 100 days.
it is not only ambitious but impossible with current systems. this is why we have invented a new type of accelerator, as innovative as the project it will accelerate.
The future building will be build from the ground-up to be the industrial innovation acceleration engine for other companies.
The architecture of the building itself is bringing innovation so it can be agile to adapt to projects size and evolution. individuals prototyping and assembling areas as well as a mutualized space (2500 m2) will allow all projects to evolve from prototype toward small series of their innovative product.
The team is the most important asset of any project, the architecture allows team to build necessary cohesion and immersion for a successful acceleration program
« The heart of the accelerator is a factory « 4.0 ». this one values all innovation facilities, incubators, garages, fablabs within Paris-Saclay. This valorisation is one of the foundations of the project. The factory also ensures the profitability of the accelerator.
Valorisation and enrichment of Paris-Saclay cluster
Paris-Saclay, cluster scientific and technological world ranking, is rich of various devices within the university, communities and industrialists. The value produced by these devices is notably represented by technological startups. The accelerator brings a strong added value by allowing to continue and accelerate the current devices and accelerates the development of these startups. The accelerator will also be a great tool for advanced prototyping and small series production for SMEs and large groups.
Démarrée le 15 novembre 2015, la première phase a permis de définir la vision de l’accélérateur hardware, ses missions et la conception d’n modèle architectural implémentation des ses missions. Le premier concept a été présenté pour avoir un premier feedback m à l’EPAPS, AgroParisTech et quelques startups.
Cette phase a démarrée en Juin 2016 apres l’intérêt exprimé par Data4 d’avoir l’accélérateur sur son site après la présentation faite lors de l’appel à idée TEDxSaclay au Proto204. La phase 2 a permis d’adapter le concept architectural définit en phase 1 en un bâtiment optimisé pour le site de Marcoussis et d’établir un premier modèle économique.
Cette phase démarrée en Janvier 2017, en cours de réalisation, a rendu publique le projet afin de valider les attentes d’un tel dispositif et de rechercher des partenaires afin de consolider le modèle économique. Cette phase se terminera fin 2017.
Cette phase verra le lancement du projet en 2018 d’un premier pilote terminant ainsi le projet pour passer à une société qui exploitera le projet.

DATA4 Campus is the perfect site to host Paris-Saclay Hardware Accelerator
The history of the sire starts in 1959 with the opening of Marcoussis Laboratories which will famous for industrial research in France. The site is a catalyst for emblematic innovation such as 3d printer invention that occurs on the site in 1983. 3D printing is now a acceleration means for all innovation projects.
Since 2007, the site host DATA4 data centers. Data centers are one of the engine of digital revolution and Marcoussis site is one of the biggest data center in France and Europe.
The project is carried by a team with different and complementary profiles. Its members are already involved in innovative ecosystems and particularly the Paris-Saclay cluster
Based on 18 years in innovation facilities of Alcatel-Lucent (in France and Canada) and NOKIA, Bertrand has acquired a strong capability to understand innovation processes and manage them. In 1998, he built the security research and Innovation team on Marcoussis site then in Ottawa (2001-2005) this allowed to get the first research contract with Canadian Defense. Back in France, Bertrand founded the first European Eureka Celtic project and received the European Excellence Award. In 2008, Bertrand contribute to the trial of a new program called ‘Entrepreneur Bootcamp”. In 2012, he contributed to an internal venture and in 2014 launched “The Garage”, a program with a makerspace and startup in residence. In 2015, Bertrand was listed by IT&Technologies magazine as one of the 50 personality of innovation in France aside personality such as Xavier Niel, Ludovic Le Moan, etc. in 2015, Bertrand joined TEDxSaclay organizing committee and in 2016 established for NOKIA partnership with incubators such as IncubAlliance where he is now member of the board of directors.
Bertrand is graduated from universities of Limoges and Nancy II and Flanders Business School
With a 25-year career with Alcatel, Nokia, Christian has acquired a solid expertise in telecommunications.
Christian joined Finance & Technology in 2008 and he is currently the Vice President. He has made an active contribution to the organization of financing convention such as Techinnov, Innovaday and Paris-Saclay Invest. Christian was a founding partner of CAPINITIAL and a member of its investment committee. In 2009, he assumed the presidency of CAPINITIAL 2 when it was founded. He has also invested directly in many start-ups and sits on their strategic committees.
Since 2010, he has provided training courses dedicated to Entrepreneurship Student of the Paris Saclay cluster. In 2011, he was a founding member of the college of investors in the Systematic competitiveness cluster.
Since 2014, he is a member of the steering committee of PEIPS (Entrepreneurs and Innovation Program of Paris-Saclay) and of the Investment Committee of the Paris-Saclay SATT.
Christian is a graduate of the University of Champagne (France) in DESS E.A.A.

It gradually deviates from architecture of the greatest number to confront the particular command and projects to complex programming and claims the exercise of its trade as a general discipline.
